Imperial Japanese Good Luck Signed Flag-0089-"ON HOLD"
This Imperial Japanese Good Luck Signed Flag was an actual battlefield pick-up following the Battle of Okinawa by a member of the U.S. Marines, 6th Marine Division. In spite of the battle damage, the darkened silk is in relatively good, stable condition. The flag measures approximately 33.25″ X 39.99″. There is the remnant of the lower corner tab present but the tie strings and other tab are long gone. There are hundreds of signatures on the flag but I am unable to find the name of the former owner. I do see the slogan Ki Buun Chokyu or “I pray your military fortunes are long lasting” written vertically on the right-hand side.
This flag is a “one-looker” and has definitely been there.
