Japanese World War Two Patriotic-Homefront Themed Children's Kimono #3
This beautiful silk Imperial Japanese Patriotic Themed Child’s Kimono dates from World War Two. Patriotic themed material was regularly purchased and made into various types of clothing in order to show a family’s patriotism and support for the troops. This particular example is in wonderful condition and appears to have been made from a Japanese national flag. The sleeves portray geisha girls, walking along the streets under cherry trees. Cherry blossoms are seen among the branches and also seen gently falling to the ground. Decorative lanterns are also depicted. The reverse of the kimono is made up almost entirely of a Japanese national flag, with some hand embroidered cherry blossoms sewn on the inside. A very nice example of this home front item- small enough to frame.
