Off To War Banner- 0052

This nice white cotton Off To War Banner measures approximately 8.” wide X 50.” long.  The nobori comes mounted on its original mounting rod and is suspended from a faded purple cord.  There are attractive pale purple tassels hanging on either side of the banner.  In the upper center there is a heavy stencil painted black and white Japanese Army star.  Cutting through the star is a horizontal, black and white squiggle design.

The long vertical lines of black kanji characters are clear and bold and say “Sending off [to the] Army Infantry Mr. Yamazaki Chie”.  This would look nice hanging next to a Japanese Army mannequin!
