1000 Stitch Belt-0064 "SOLD"
This beautiful white silk and red knotted Senninbari or One-Thousand Stitch Belt measures approximately 6.00″ high X 29.25″ long, not including tie strings. The entire front of the belt is covered in red cotton knots. The center of the senninbari has been stitched in order to make it look like a Japanese flag, with a red sun in the center along with 2 good luck coins sewn to either side. The coin on the left appears to be a 10-sen coin, while the one on right appears to be a 5-sen coin.
The reverse of this well-made stitch belt example has 4 large, black kanji characters inked across it. The characters read, Buun Chokyu or “I Pray Your Military Fortunes Are Long Lasting”. In the center of the panel, in between the 4 characters, are 2 large, red seals that combined measure 3.00 high X 3.25″ long. Unfortunately, the ink has faded and I am unable to fully make out the characters.
This senninbari belt is very well made and looks beautiful with its knotted flag center and good luck coins prominently displayed. A really nice example…..
