Sake Cup-0016

This is one beautifully painted Japanese sake cup!  Overall  measurements across the rim are 3.5-inches.  The gold painted rim is in very nice condition and shows off the wonderful art that is painted inside.  Across the inner-top, a large and colorful Phoenix Bird is painted in shades of gold, orange, jade-green, forest-green and blue.  On the opposite side of the cup is a large group of paulonia leaves, painted in gold, grey-blue, bright-blue, light-blue and black.  Two handpainted kanji characters are painted in the center. The reverse of the cup has a number of black painted kanji characters around the rim, as well as 4 small characters painted in red in the bottom-center.  The raised center stand is also decorated with a band of red paint that is accented with gold leaf.  This is a very pretty and colorful cup.  There are some imperfections in the porcelain finish made during the manufacturing process (please see photos), however, there are no chips or cracks in the finish.
