This impressive size sake cup measures approximately 3.75-inches across the rim. The gold leaf on the cup’s edge is only slighlty worn and there are no chips or cracks. The center design shows a partially furled Japanese Battle Flag in red, white and gold leaf, mounted on its staff. It is crossed with a rifle; it’s sling is clearly visible. Numerous gold leaf kanji characters are evident in the center of the cup and the cup is named on the bottom. There is one small defect on the outside of the cup, in the porcelain. This small area is in the porcelain clay and was glazed over at the time of manufacture.
