1000 Stitch Belt (Senninbari) Carrying Bag
This is a heavy burlap bag for holding/carrying a 1000 Stitch Belt. Women often carried their Senninbari in bags like these as they were gathering the stitches for their loved one in the service. The belt, with thread and needles might also be held in these bags. At times, they were also simply used to hold 1000 stitch belts that were going to be donated to service men by the Patriotic Ladies Associations. The different Ladies Associations often made 1000 stitch belts en masse, and these bags could be used to hold a number at one time. This bag is in very nice condition and measures approximately 11.5″ wide X 15.” high. I have had a few of these over the years.
