WWII Japanese Navy EM/CPO Canteen
The cloth cover shows typical spots and signs of carrying in the field. You can see the number “102” painted in heavy, age-darkened white paint on the front cover. This probably indicates the sailor’s number. The full fabric shoulder strap is in place, but does show a period field repair (see photo). The metal drinking cup is present with its original retention chain in great condition. The metal fastening rivets across the top are long gone from extensive field use and the original tie string is probably a replacement. Just a great been there navy canteen.
